An acclaimed Western movie is going to be coming to screens later this month. The film won rave reviews from the critics and features a stellar cast, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten

Dunst and Jesse Plemons. First released in 2021, it won rave reviews from the critics and audiences. One five-star review on Rotten Tomatoes read: "A deeply symbolic movie presented

through the genre of a Western." A second audience member said: "This movie may be hard to watch at times but it is worth it. "Great atmosphere, an incredibly compelling

story, amazing acting and characters that are genuinely interesting and multidimensional." While a third viewer wrote: "The Power of the Dog is a slow-burning masterpiece of

tension and repression. "Benedict Cumberbatch delivers a career-best performance as the menacing yet vulnerable rancher Phil Burbank, while Kirsten Dunst and Kodi Smit-McPhee shine in

this haunting psychological drama. "Director Jane Campion crafts a visually stunning, emotionally devastating film that lingers long after the credits roll." The Power of the Dog

will be arriving on BBC iPlayer at the end of the month and is completely free to watch. Based on the 1967 novel of the same name by author Thomas Savage, audiences can expect a compelling

watch. The Power of the Dog follows the relationship between rough rancher Phil Burbank (Cumberbatch) with his sister-in-law Rose Gordon (Dunst) and her son Peter Gordon (Kodi Smit-McPhee).

Set in the 1920s at a ranch in Montana, the movie charts Rose's descent into alcoholism following a humiliation by her brother-in-law Phil. The rancher previously said Rose only wanted

to marry his brother George Burbank (Plemons) for money, adding to the tension. Audiences get an insight into Phil's backstory as he develops a bond with Peter, who comes home from

medical college during the holidays. Phil previously mocked Peter too, but it appears the pair moved past this. The Power of the Dog is in parts a Western family drama and psychological

thriller. Other cast members include Thomasin McKenzie of The Hobbit fame, Keith Carradine from Dexter and Madam Secretary, Six Feet Under’s Frances Conroy, Peter Carroll from Sleeping

Beauty and Alice Englert of Beautiful Creatures and Ginger & Rosa. _THE POWER OF THE DOG WILL BE STREAMING ON BBC IPLAYER FROM MAY 30_
