Alan Titchmarsh, the renowned gardener famous for his tips for more beautiful and healthier gardens over decades, has shared what he likes to eat for breakfast — and there's not an

avocado in sight. Alan says he prefers a simple classic over trendy breakfast options, telling Gardeners' World magazine that he's not one to jump on the avocado on toast

bandwagon, instead opting for a modestly priced cereal. Alan write last year: "It seems there is a great movement towards smashed avocado on sourdough bread. 'I can't think of

anything more insipid to force down my neck at the crack of dawn." The beloved presenter of Love Your Garden also bases his dietary choices on environmental concerns, reports the

Express. He said: "I cannot reconcile myself to eating avocados and contributing to the enormous carbon footprint involved in shipping them across the ocean to my breakfast table, not

to mention the wholesale destruction of the rainforest to create such plantations." Instead, Alan finds delight in a couple of different things at breakfast. Firstly, there's a

simple bowl of Shreddies to start off his morning. Although he relishes his cherished cereal, he also admits a fondness for three Weetabix biscuits when he needs something more substantial

to tide him over until noon. Surprisingly, Alan's breakfast routine doesn't typically include home-grown fruits or veggies; however, he does enjoy some hand-reared produce with his

cereal. Alan has previously shared with the Telegraph his fondness for keeping chickens at home, detailing the joy it brings to his daily routine. And he said: "My reward is a fresh

egg for breakfast every day, should I so wish, except from October to January when they go off lay. That said, for most of the year four chickens will produce more than enough eggs for a

family of four — for breakfast and for baking." The green-fingered specialist also divulged his preference for enjoying these eggs fried with a side of dry-smoked bacon rashers,

accompanied by tea and toast with marmalade. This simple pleasure, Alan mentioned, is "as sophisticated a meal as I [he] would ever want to eat". He added: "I am never happier

than when gathering the eggs from Rocky, Chalky, Columbine and Oh-oh. Even if the rest of them are living the life of Riley."
