Summer is fast approaching with many people set to jet off on their holiday soon, and for some, having their nails looking good is a must before they depart. But what if you have brittle
nails that don't look good? According to one doctor, there are 5 everyday foods that can help you avoid weak and brittle nails. And if you start now, your nails could be your dream
nails by the time your holiday arrives. 5 DAILY FOODS YOU NEED TO ADD TO YOUR DIET Doctor Dave Reilly, Senior Scientist at Absolute Collagen, has shared some foods that will boost your nail
health and keep them in prime condition. You may have all of these in your home as you read this but if not, they're available in most supermarkets and don't have to cost a
fortune. 1. EGGS The doctor has said that whilst many of us know that eggs are a common source of protein used by gym-goers, its benefits aren’t only to improve and recover muscles. The
protein in eggs can support the structure of your nail plate, something many are unaware of. Eggs are also packed with biotin, also known as vitamin B7, which fuels keratin production,
strengthening your nails and boosting growth. An easy way to incorporate more eggs into your diet is by adding them on top of a simple avocado toast or tossing them into your favourite salad
for a nutritious and delicious boost. 2. SALMON Fatty fish like salmon are packed with omega-3 fatty acids and protein, which support healthy nail growth. Regularly including salmon in your
diet can help keep your nails hydrated and prevent brittleness. Salmon and veggies paired with a nutritious carb, such as brown rice, is a great option for a delicious balanced meal that’ll
help your nails at the same time. 3. SPINACH Spinach is a nutrient-rich superfood loaded with iron, folate, and vitamins A and C — all essential for preventing nail breakage. Plus,
it's incredibly versatile and easy to incorporate into meals. Try tossing a handful into your morning smoothie, adding it to a lunchtime salad, pairing it with mushrooms on toast, or
stirring it into your evening pasta. 4. NUTS Nuts are versatile as you can cook with them, add them into bakes such as brownies or cakes, sprinkle them or salad or just have them as a snack.
They are full of fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, nuts which the doctor says should be a staple in any diet, particularly those following a plant-based diet. Walnuts are a great source
of biotin, vitamins E and B, and omega-3 fatty acids — all beneficial for maintaining healthy nails. Similarly, almonds provide vitamin E, magnesium, and zinc, which help nourish the nail
beds and support nail growth. 5. SWEET POTATOES Sweet potatoes are naturally high in beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A, also known as retinol. This nutrient supports
healthy cell turnover, helping to prevent nails from becoming dry and brittle. Retinol also benefits your skin by improving texture and reducing signs of aging. If you're not a fan, you
can easily substitute sweet potatoes for white potatoes to enjoy these added health benefits. SHOULD I ADD COLLAGEN TO MY DIET? Dr Dave Reilly said: "It’s no secret that the food we
eat has a direct impact on our health and well-being. And aiming to have a balanced diet and being more conscious of the nutrients in your food will not only benefit your overall wellbeing,
but it can support your skin, hair and nail health. “If you feel like your nails still need an added boost after adding these foods to your diet, try supporting with supplements. Adding
biotin supplements into your routine could further help strengthen your nails and encourage growth. “Another fantastic supplement for nail health is collagen. Collagen contains the essential
amino acids needed to support keratin production, which is the protein your nails are made of. The body naturally produces collagen but from the age of 25 that gradually declines. So,
adding a collagen supplement to your daily routine can help give an added boost to your nails."
