NHS doctor and TV star Dr Amir Khan shared his recipe for a ‘brain boosting’ drink that helps him maintain focus throughout the day. He makes the drink whenever he feels sluggish, with his
warming drink perfect for the winter months. Included in Dr Amir’s ‘brain boosting’ drink is hot milk of your choice - he used almond milk - as well as two teaspoons of raw cacao powder, a
shot of espresso, and a teaspoon of honey. Give it a good stir and there you have it. He noted that studies have shown that cacao powder can help to improve blood flow to the brain, in turn
helping focus and attention. Dr Amir said: “If you’re feeling a bit sluggish because of the winter. This is a really good drink to improve mental focus and your brain health. Dr Amir’s video
has been viewed over 133,300 times, receiving 3,023 likes and 138 comments. Health fans were impressed by his praise, Charlie wrote: “Thank you will try that tomorrow.” Susie explained: “I
have a shake everyday that I make with cacao powder oat milk honey a banana and peanut butter!” Monners suggested, “I've been adding raw cacao powder to my coffee with collagen too,”
while Woo said, “Always like watching your TikTok’s and love to learn how I’m already doing a load of good things but learning a few new tricks too.” Cacao powder is made from cacao trees,
where chocolate also comes from, but the process to make it is very different. Sarah Harris, a nutritionist at Holland & Barrett, said: “The major difference between cacao and cocoa
powder is in their processing after the beans have been harvested. Cocoa is more mellow due to the processing that it goes through. On the other hand, cacao has a deeper, richer taste.”
Cacao has a number of health benefits, including being rich in flavonoids. These are substances which contain protective antioxidants, as well as helping to lower risk of heart disease,
reduce inflammation, as well improving mood and brain function. It’s also a great source of magnesium, iron and potassium, which have a range of benefits, such as helping bone and muscle
function; as well as supporting blood pressure. IF YOU WANT IDEAS AND INSPIRATION TO PLAN YOUR NEXT UK ADVENTURE PLUS SELECTED OFFERS AND COMPETITIONS, SIGN UP FOR OUR 2CHILL WEEKLY
