Police incident outside surrey school sees woman threatened with hammer

A man has been arrested by Surrey Police on suspicion of a number of offences after officers were called to reports of an altercation outside a school in Walton-on-Thames on Friday (May 2).


Police have said that officers were called to Ambleside Avenue in the town at around 3.20pm on May 2 following reports that a man had threatened a woman with a hammer outside a primary


school. A spokesperson for the force has said: "The incident took place outside Walton Oak School, and we appreciate this would have been alarming and distressing for anyone who


witnessed it." "However, we would like to reassure you that we are carrying out a full and thorough investigation to understand the circumstances of this incident. We also believe


the man and woman were known to each other." Following the incident, police arrested a 31-year-old man, of no fixed address, however he reportedly claimed he "felt unwell" and


was taken to hospital. Once at hospital, the force have reported that the 31-year-old allegedly assaulted a number of police officers. A man was arrested on suspicion criminal damage,


possession of an offensive weapon, failure to provide a drink and drugs sample, driving with no insurance, driving with no licence, causing actual bodily harm to an emergency worker as well


as three counts of common assault to an emergency worker. The spokesperson continued: "Given the time of day, there would have been a large number of people in the area at the time and
