The domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (DRHI) scheme closed to new applications at MIDNIGHT ON 31 MARCH 2022. The new Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) will continue to support the deployment of
low carbon heat technologies once it launches. It will pay an upfront grant to help consumers with the high upfront cost of purchasing and installing a low carbon heating system. Ofgem is
the administrator for both schemes. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO INSTALL A LOW CARBON HEATING SYSTEM IN MARCH 2022 If you are planning to install a low carbon heating system in March, and need to
decide which scheme to apply for, you should: * read the guidance and eligibility criteria for both schemes * discuss the timeline of the installation and commissioning of your low carbon
heating system with your installer to help you make an informed choice To have applied for the DRHI, your installation needed to have been commissioned and completed before 1 April, and
applications submitted before 1 April: * Ofgem guidance on submitting an application for accreditation to the DRHI scheme before it closed If you decide to apply to the BUS scheme, your
installation must be commissioned on or after 1 April, and you need to submit the application once the scheme has launched. To find more information on the scheme: * the government response
to this consultation which sets out the overall scheme design, alongside the draft regulations * Ofgem’s consultation on their proposals for administering the scheme Ofgem will publish full
guidance on the BUS. Back to top
