Srinagar, Dec 3: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Srinagar on Friday notified select rooms in two high-end hotels of the city in order to increase the quarantine facility
choices available to incoming passengers with foreign travel history. Today, 26 people were put under quarantine in the Kashmir division. Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Syed Haneef
Balkhi today said that 33 people, who had history of travel to outside the country in the past 14 days were quarantined from Srinagar International Airport. He said that although there was
no direct international flight today, the passengers travelled via domestic flights after arriving in India earlier. “All these people are currently under quarantine at private and public
facilities already notified by the administration,” he said. The ADC said the passengers who had been quarantined earlier on Thursday were allowed to proceed for home quarantine after their
samples, taken at the Airport, were reported to be negative for SARS-CoV2. Meanwhile, district administration on Friday notified “select few rooms” in Taj Vivanta Srinagar and The Lalit
Srinagar for quarantine purposes. Balkhi said the provision was made to provide choice to travelers as many had sought high-end accommodations. “The cost of boarding and lodging for the time
of quarantine at any of the hotels is to be borne by the traveler. We have kept two government accommodations with all the facilities and conveniences available as well,” he said. Balkhi
further said that the facilities of heating at Hajj House Srinagar were upgraded and quarantined people can stay comfortably and free of cost at Srinagar Nagar convention hall or Hajj House,
free of cost. The J&K Government has made it mandatory that samples of passengers arriving at Srinagar International Airport with history of travel to outside the country are tested
with RT-PCR. The test report, at present takes upto 24 hours, the time for which the passengers are not allowed to proceed home and put under quarantine. If the passenger tests negative, he
or she is allowed to proceed for seven days home quarantine. In case their samples are found positive, they are sent for treatment/observation to DRDO COVID19 Hospital Khanmoh.
