Darren Bent has claimed that he has his ‘reservations’ about Arsenal possibly signing Raphinha this summer because he wants to join Barcelona, as he told talkSPORT.
The boyhood Arsenal fan added that he would ‘love’ to see Raphinha in north London, but questioned whether his ‘heart and soul’ would be in it if he missed out on a move to the Nou Camp this
summer.
It was previously reported by South American football expert, Tim Vickery, that it would be very hard for the Leeds star to turn down a move to Barcelona – but given their financial
situation that might not happen.
If the last transfer rumoured are to be believed, then a move to the Emirates might not happen because Chelsea are close to agreeing a £55 million fee with Leeds for their star winger – Ray
Parlour described it as a ‘blow’ for the Gunners.
Either way, this is what former Premier League striker Bent had to say about the Gunners possibly securing the talents of one of Brazil’s top talents.
“I have my reservations, but I would love to see him at Arsenal,” said Bent. “He so wants to go to Barcelona, will his heart and soul be in it if he comes to Arsenal because he didn’t get
the move he wanted?”
ARE CHELSEA GOING TO STEAL A MARCH ON RAPHINHA AHEAD OF ARSENAL?
The fact that so many teams are keen to add Raphinha to their ranks, just proves what type of performer Leeds have on their hands.
It’s going to be pretty tough for Jesse Marsch, who has been in the job for less than six months, to replace the left-footed dazzler.
But it seems as though it’s going to be Chelsea who will steal a march, ahead of the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal, for Raphinha’s signature.
A fee has been agreed for the player, it’s just a case of it going that extra step and then Chelsea will have the player in their building.
After scoring 11 Premier League goals last season for a relegation-threatened Leeds side, you can bet your bottom dollar Raphinha will hit double figures again for the next team he joins,
which is very valuable given that he is not the main goal source and a wide player.
