A French-Canadian thriller about Montreal’s criminal underworld, “Un Zoo de la Nuit” or “Night Zoo,” swept Canada’s “Genie” film awards in Toronto Tuesday night. “Un Zoo” won 13 Genie
awards, including best picture, best actor (Roger LeBel) and best supporting actor (Germain Houde). Jean-Claude Lauzon took best director and best screenplay. “Un Zoo,” which will be
released in the U.S. next week, had its debut at last year’s Cannes Film Festival. Toronto-born director Norman Jewison was given the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television’s special
achievement award.
