I would like to congratulate Mike DiGiovanna on his moving story on Rod Carew and his family’s fight to save his daughter. How great it is to read about a sports figure helping others to

live and what is really important in life. Too many stories are filled with self-abuse, the abuse of others and downright greed. We need more examples of people actually caring for other

people. My prayers are with the Carew family and any others facing the same predicament. I know where they are, having lost my father to cancer in November after a lengthy illness. ROBERT J.
