It was a bright and sunny day. I had walked into Westwood Village to do some errands. I had had lunch and was walking to my home. The streets were filled with people. I came to a

street-crossing at Broxton and Weyburn avenues. I am a senior citizen who has suffered an accident and cannot walk well. I looked down at the curb where I was to cross the street. Laborers

had been working. I would have had to take a giant step to cross. I was not capable of doing that. I was in a dilemma and had decided to call a cab and go home. As I turned, a male voice,

soft-spoken and well-modulated, said, “Give me your hand.” I placed my hand in his, the light changed, and he helped me cross the street. I thanked him with all my heart. He wished me well.

He went on his way. I watch TV. I read the newspapers with stories of terror and the violent people walking our streets. And yet, I realize there are blessed people sharing the streets who

are helpful and kind. When I think of the gentleman who helped me, I feel that I was touched by a human angel. To all those people who do good deeds: Go forth and continue to be a blessing.
