The Los Angeles County Community Development Commission has received a 2002 Award of Excellence for its role in the creation of the 40-unit Westwood Transitional Village. The award, from the
National Assn. for County Community and Economic Development, is the third national honor the project has received. The commission was one of five groups nationwide to receive the award.
The multifamily facility, which includes a child-care center, provides temporary housing and support services primarily for single women with children who were homeless or for those
emancipated from the county’s foster care program. The Westwood Transitional Village is at 1401 Sepulveda Blvd. and was created through a partnership that included the Salvation Army. MORE
