BBC One and iPlayer are set to air a special celebrity edition of the hit psychological competition, The Traitors, this autumn. The nine-part series will feature a star-studded lineup,
including Alan Carr, Cat Burns, and Stephen Fry, among others, as they engage in a game of strategy, deception, and betrayal in the hopes of winning up to £100,000 for their chosen charity.
A first-look image has been released, showcasing caricature portraits of the participating celebrities hanging on the castle walls, building anticipation for the new series. Host Claudia
Winkleman expressed her excitement, saying: "We're incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I'd love to say we'll take it easy on them and they'll just
wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks, but that would be a lie." The Traitors has gained a devoted fan base since its launch on BBC One and iPlayer in 2022, with
the first series achieving breakout success and the show's popularity continuing to grow. The upcoming celebrity edition promises to be just as gripping, with the 20 participating
celebrities facing off in a tense battle of trust and treachery. By its third series, it was pulling in an average of 10.3 million viewers across all 12 episodes, with the opening episode
alone attracting 10.9 million viewers - making it the most-watched unscripted programme since I'm a Celebrity in 2022. Moreover, it's also the highest-rated new entertainment show
among the 16-34 age bracket, drawing in 2.3 million viewers from this demographic, with half of its audience catching up on iPlayer, reports Wales Online. The programme has garnered
widespread praise and a host of awards, including the BAFTA for Best Reality and Constructed Factual, the NTA for Reality Competition, the RTS Entertainment Award, and the Broadcasting Press
Guild Award for Best Entertainment Programme. Claudia has also received accolades for her hosting duties, scooping the BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance, the RTS Entertainment
Performance Award, and the Edinburgh TV Festival Variety Outstanding Achievement Award. Celebrity Traitors will consist of nine hour-long episodes and is being produced by Studio Lambert
Scotland for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The series was commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, the BBC's Head of Entertainment Commissioning. THE TRAITORS IS AVAILABLE TO WATCH ON BBC
IPLAYER.
