Coronation Street actress Barbara Ferris has passed away at the age of 85. The star - whose career spanned several decades - was best known for her role as barmaid Nona Willis in 1961. She
featured in 10 episodes of the iconic soap but left due to difficulties with the Lancastrian accent. Film buffs may remember her from the 1965 movie Catch Us If You Can, where she played
Dinah opposite Dave Clark, and from her appearance in the 1990 film The Krays. After a successful career, Ferris chose to focus on her family life, supporting her husband's
international career and living in various locations including Ireland, Zurich, and London. Born to Dorothy and Roy Ferris in London, she was the younger of two siblings and attended Italia
Conti stage school, where she performed in pantomimes and adverts to support her family, according to the Mirror. Following news of her death on May 23, with the cause yet to be confirmed,
fans have expressed their sorrow on social media, sharing tributes and memories. One fan commented: "Absolutely gutted to hear about Barbara Ferris. She had such a quiet grace on screen
- Catch Us If You Can was a core memory from my childhood. Rest easy, Dinah." One fan wrote: "RIP to Barbara Ferris - unforgettable in The Krays. That voice, that presence. We
were lucky to have her, even if briefly.", reports the Express. A fellow actor also paid tribute: "Barbara was one of the kindest, most generous actors I ever worked with.
"Her laughter lit up every set we shared. It was an honour just to be around her." Ferris married film producer John Quested in 1960, but their honeymoon was cut short when she had
to take to the stage after just one night at The Dorchester. She is survived by her husband and their three children, Nicholas, Christopher, and Catherine. CORONATION STREET AIRS MONDAY,
