Coronation Street actress Samia Longchambon has described recent changes on the popular soap as "the end of an era". The ITV show, which is soon set to celebrate its 65th
anniversary on our screens, has seen significant a significant shift in recent months with the departure of two of its long-standing stars. Soap legends Helen Worth and Sue Cleaver, who
together have spent an impressive 75 years combined on the cobbles, have both decided to leave the show within months of each other. Helen was the first to announce her exit last June,
expressing gratitude for having worked with "fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew" and admitting that her departure hadn't quite sunk in yet. Following emotional
Christmas day scenes marking Helen's final appearance, Sue Cleaver is now set to depart the cobbles in order to pursue other projects. She has been a fan favourite since her debut ever
since her debut on the street 25 years ago. In an interview with Prima magazine, their former co-star Samia Longchambon reflected on their departures: "Saying goodbye to Helen Worth
(Gail Platt) after her 50 years was really emotional. But I completely agree with her that she deserves a rest now." She also noted the extra impact of Sue's departure given that
they arrived on the show within just days of each other. Reflecting further, she shared: "It was weird saying bye to Sue (Cleaver, who played Eileen Grimshaw), too, because we actually
joined the same month and her dressing room was next door to mine, and then Mikey North moved into it." As she reflected on the exits of the Corrie legends, Samia shared how it felt
like it represented a significant moment in the soap's history: "So it did actually make me think, 'God, that's the end of an era.' " With Eileen's on
final scenes set to air next week, it brings to an end and emotional time for soap icon after she tragically lost her sister Julie Carp (portrayed by Katy Cavanagh), to cancer in recent
weeks. Swapping Weatherfield for Thailand, Eileen is set to invest in her son Jason's new business venture as they jet off next week. Fans can catch the latest developments on
