A man has been charged with multiple offences following a collision in Leicester. Five pedestrians were injured after they were reportedly hit by a car in De Montfort Street.


Leicestershire Police said today (Monday, June 2), that Gurwinder Singh, of Gwendolen Road, Leicester, has been charged with four counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and one


count of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. Four people were thought to be initially injured in the collision, but police have since revised this figure up to five.


According to police, the crash happened around 12.34am on Saturday (May 31), leaving five people injured. A force spokesperson said: "It has been determined a total of five people – four men


and one woman – were injured, with two remaining in hospital with serious injuries. Both are in a stable condition."

A sixth victim was identified but did not suffer any injuries according to officers. Two other people have also been arrested in relation to the incident.


Officers said a 31-year-old man, from Leicester, also arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, has been released on


police bail pending further enquiries. A 34-year-old man, also from Leicester, was arrested on suspicion of affray, but has also been bailed by officers.


Singh, who is 28, is set to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court later today (Monday, June 2).
