With Leicester City relegated in April – and with a return to the Championship on the cards for a fair few weeks before that – it has felt like a slow winding down of the campaign at the
King Power Stadium. But it is now over. Thirty-eight games have been played and there is nothing to focus on but preparing for next term and a second campaign in the Championship in three
years. Players have been released, which is a start. Now a decision over the manager is required. For now, here’s what else is happening around the King Power Stadium... BRIAN BARRY-MURPHY
LINKED While City’s own managerial situation is up in the air, there are a handful of clubs around the Football League actively seeking new bosses to lead them into next season. One such
clubs is Cardiff, who have fallen into League One for the first time in more than 20 years. And reportedly on their shortlist is City first-team coach Brian Barry-Murphy. The Irishman joined
City last December to help out Ruud van Nistelrooy having spent the three previous years coaching Man City’s Under-21s, the job that Enzo Maresca used to have. He’s only had one first-team
managerial position before that, leading Rochdale for a couple of years between 2019 and 2021. At City, Barry-Murphy was a club appointment rather than a van Nistelrooy appointment, and so
his future would not necessarily be tied to the Dutchman’s should he be relieved of his duties. Only goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar arrived alongside van Nistelrooy, having worked
alongside the manager at Manchester United. COULIBALY SET FOR AFCON CALL? City right-back Woyo Coulibaly has been handed his first call-up to the Mali squad for their friendly against
Democratic Republic of Congo next week, on Thursday, June 5. The 26-year-old was born and grew up in France but had Mali citizenship and could now represent the nation for the first time. If
he impresses, it could pave the way for him to feature at the Africa Cup of Nations, starting this December and running for a month, and so missing a chunk of City’s season. As things
stand, there are four players in the City squad who could be at the tournament: Coulibaly with Mali, Bilal El Khannouss with hosts Morocco, Wilfred Ndidi with Nigeria, and Patson Daka with
Zambia. But how many of those will be with the club come December is another matter. Ghana failed to qualify for the tournament, and so City won’t lose either Abdul Fatawu or Jordan Ayew,
who are both more likely to remain with the club. GET YOUR SPECIAL JAMIE VARDY EDITION OF THE LEICESTER MERCURY It was certainly a fairytale ending to Jamie Vardy's Leicester City

WORLD WIDE SHIPPING AVAILABLE PAGE OUT AS COVER LINKS UP Elsewhere on international duty, there was disappointment for Louis Page and England Under-17s as they let a semi-final spot slip
from their hands at the Euros. Needing to win their final group game by three goals, while hoping that Belgium lost to Italy, everything looked good when they were 4-0 up at half-time
against the Czech Republic. The Czechs pulled back a goal, but England were heading through when Italy turned around the game to lead Belgium. However, in the 89th minute, England conceded,
winning only 4-2 and so missing out on a semi-final place on goal difference. Page started England’s first two games at the tournament and was used as a substitute against the Czech
Republic. The midfielder will be hoping to feature when the Young Lions head to Qatar for the Under-17 World Cup in November. Now heading out on international duty is Brandon Cover. He was
spotted training with the City squad ahead of the game at Bournemouth following the completion of his loan spell at Fleetwood. It seems like he was getting some fitness up ahead of a call-up
for Jamaica. The right-back was included in the squad for the Unity Cup friendly against Trinidad and Tobago, but did not feature in the game on Tuesday, which was won 3-2 by Steve
McLaren’s Reggae Boyz at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium. LEUVEN EURO HOPES OVER Over in Belgium, King Power-owned OH Leuven had looked contenders to qualify for a one-legged European
play-off late last month when they started the six-team end-of-season mini-league by going unbeaten in the first five games. However, they then took just one point from the final five games,
losing all of their last four, and finishing bottom of the table. WHO HAS IMPRESSED RECENTLY? James Justin is worthy of a shout-out after a solid end to the season. He had a very tough
start to the campaign where he was often left exposed, but didn’t find form either, with plenty of goals conceded down his flank. But over the final couple of months of the campaign, he was
consistently good, defending the back post well and making very few notable mistakes. There was, of course, that excellent assist for Jamie Vardy’s 200th goal too. WHO HAS POINT TO PROVE?
Now the season’s over, it’s the board. It’s their call on what happens next over the manager’s position. Fans have made clear their stance on Russell Martin, and so if that's the
direction they go, they will need to hope it pays off. NEXT UP... The first City players are due back in for pre-season on Monday, June 30, so there’s a few weeks of rest for the squad
before they start getting into gear for the new campaign. By then, the fixtures will be released. City will learn their schedule at midday on Thursday, June 26. WHAT IS THE BIGGEST TASK FOR
