Hamza Choudhury has hinted he won’t be permanently moving to loan club Sheffield United, putting him in contention for a Leicester City comeback. On the fringes at City, Choudhury spent the
second half of the season on loan with the Blades as they narrowly missed out on promotion, losing the play-off final to Sunderland in added time at Wembley. There is an option for the
Blades to buy in Choudhury’s loan deal, but he appears to have said goodbye to Bramall Lane, suggesting he won’t be heading back there next season. Posting on social media, Choudhury said:
“Such a painful way to end the season. I’ve struggled to find the right words over the last couple of days. I feel like we deserved so much more, but it’s not what was written. “I want to
thank everyone associated with Sheffield United, the gaffer and his staff, all my team-mates and to every single fan for making my time so memorable here. I’ve loved being able to play and
represent this special club.” Choudhury was a key player in the second half of the campaign for the Blades, only missing one league fixture and playing 90 minutes in their three play-off
games. He was mostly used as a right-back, which was where he played under Enzo Maresca at Leicester last season. As Ricardo Pereira’s deputy in the inverted full-back role, Choudhury was
well-liked by Maresca, captaining the team on occasion and earning a new deal to keep him tied to the club to 2027. If Choudhury is to return to City and play a part next term, it seems more
likely he will be used in central midfield. City are well-stocked for full-backs, with Ricardo, James Justin, Woyo Coulibaly, Luke Thomas, Victor Kristiansen and Bade Aluko to choose from.
In midfield, they have Wilfred Ndidi, Boubakary Soumare, Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp, but bar Skipp, there are doubts around their futures heading back into the second tier. DO YOU WANT
