in a Liverpool residential street, police said. The woman, in her 30s, is fighting for her life in hospital where her condition is described as critical. A 48-year-old man was arrested on
suspicion of attempted murder following the incident, which took place in Phythian Close, Kensington on Friday evening. He is being questioned by detectives after what police described as a
"swift" arrest. Merseyside Police were called just before 8.25pm to reports a woman in her 30s had suffered chest and face injuries after an assault. At the scene on Friday
evening, the ECHO's reporter observed forensics officers carrying out enquiries, with the road cordoned off amid a large police presence. Detective Inspector Leanne Toole said: “A woman
has been left with extremely serious injuries as a result of this incident." She added: "Officers who attended made a swift arrest, and I hope every arrest we make reassures
victims that their reports will be taken seriously. Detectives are speaking to potential witnesses at the scene and exploring all CCTV and doorbell footage opportunities in the local area as
we seek to get a full understanding of what took place, and I would appeal to anyone with information to get in touch.” Article continues below Anyone with information on this incident
