Family's tribute to 'loving' dad, 58, killed in crash

A MAN WAS ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE CRASH 09:03, 22 May 2025 The family of a "loving" dad who died following a crash have paid tribute to him. Officers were called to the A41


in Chester, Backford Dip, between Church Lane and the A5032 at around 11.45am on Saturday, May 10. It followed reports of a crash between a motorcycle and a grey Audi. The motorcyclist, a


58-year-old man from Ellesmere Port, was pronounced dead following the crash. The man has since been named as Paul O’Rourke, who was also affectionately known as Rocky to loved ones. In a


tribute, his family said: “A loving husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and grandad. Will be sadly missed by all. In our hearts forever. RIP.” The driver of the


Audi, a 23-year-old man, has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report a road accident. He has been


released on bail pending further enquiries. ‌Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and footage following the fatal crash. As part of their enquiries, officers previously said they


wanted to speak to two people who were travelling in a car and who spoke to the driver of a grey Audi shortly after the crash. Article continues below Inspector Steve Griffiths said:


“Firstly, our thoughts are with the motorcyclist’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time. As we continue our investigation into the circumstances of this incident, we are continuing


to appeal to any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to get in touch with us. “To aid our enquiries, we’re also urging anyone who believes they match the description of the
