THE CONTESTANT BUMPED INTO THE DARK DESTROYER ON A CRUISE 19:20, 29 May 2025 A contestant on The Chase recalled a surprising encounter with Shaun Wallace when he bumped into The Chaser while

on holiday. Mark, Izzie, James and Annie made up the team of four contestants who were eager to test their wits against one of the UK's best quizzers. Mark was first up to test his

general knowledge skills on the ITV quiz show. He told Bradley Walsh he wanted to go up against Shaun Wallace aka The Dark Destroyer, after revealing he had already quizzed against The

Chaser while on holiday. He explained: "I met him on a cruise ship and beat him in the final." The contestant continued: "He was there as the celebrity guest of the holiday,

but he took part in the quiz and he got through to the final and I met him there, and I managed to beat him." Bradley Walsh found the situation amusing, as he joked: "Wow,

that's two weeks of your life you're never getting back." Despite Mark's eagerness for a chance to beat The Dark Destroyer a second time, it was Jenny "The

Vixen" Ryan who sat down in the hot seat. Mark gave a great performance in the Cash Builder round and accumulated an impressive £7,000. The quizzer decided to play it safe with what he

had earned. He proved to have made the right decision as he returned to his teammates, kickstarting the shared prize pot. The Vixen said he was a "great asset" to the team ahead of

the final chase. Next up, 24-year-old Izzie from Sheffield hope to follow in Mark's successful footsteps. She gave a great effort in a tough Cash Builder, and The Chaser commented on

her "amazing quiz technique." Izzie took £5,000 through to her head-to-head with The Vixen but her time on the ITV quiz show was soon cut short. The contestant was caught by The

Chaser was eliminated from the game. She heard Bradley Walsh's dreaded words: "For you, The Chase is over" and left empty-handed. James, a teacher from Northampton, hoped to

make a better impression as he tested his general knowledge skills. He accumulated £4,000, but shocked his teammates when he decided to play for a whopping £40,000. Despite James'

confidence, he was also eliminated from the game, leaving Annie to make a final attempt to join Mark in the final. The Scottish contestant gave a "brilliant performance", and

eventually increased the shared cash prize pot to £15,000. Mark and Annie took part in the final chase and achieved combined score of 13, which wasn't strong enough to triumph against

The Chaser. Jenny Ryan proved her endless general knowledge skills as she caught the team with three seconds to spare. Article continues below THE CHASE AIRS WEEKDAYS AT 5PM ON ITV1 AND ITVX
