JAMES MARTIN WAS JOINED BY LOUISE REDKNAPP ON TODAY'S EPISODE OF JAMES MARTIN'S SATURDAY MORNING. HANNAH MCGREEVY Content Editor 11:37, 31 May 2025 James Martin has given fans a glimpse into his evening habits, revealing that he does indeed whip up a meal for himself at home, unlike the dishes viewers see on TV. The celebrity chef was chatting with guest Louise Redknapp on this morning's James Martin's Saturday Morning, when she queried if his personal culinary style mirrors the extravagant meals he showcases on the ITV programme. While demonstrating how to prepare a tantalising blackened cod recipe, that had marinated for three days in miso, sake, and mirin, and is served alongside smoky barbecue leeks and char-grilled broccolini, Louise probed James about his home cooking habits. Her question came as she appeared on the show to discuss her latest solo album, Confessions, asking the host: "Do you cook dinner for yourself every night? Like, if you're just home alone do you still cook something..." "Absolutely!" the celebrity chef interrupted, confirming enthusiastically: "Yeah, absolutely." Article continues below Earlier in their conversation, Louise had admitted to having cereal for her dinner last night, prompting James to offer: "So hopefully I'm going to cook for you some nice food." Yet despite the sophisticated dish he was constructing, James conceded: "I don't cook like this every night. But if you can just cook a nice bit of fish, just pan fry it..." He then connected their crafts with a light-hearted remark, saying: "But yeah it's my job! You must sing in the kitchen don't you as you go along?" "I do, actually!" the singer responded amid laughter, with James concluding: "There you go! Similar sort of thing." James has previously discussed simpler meals he enjoys creating on his Saturday Morning show, balancing out the more elaborate fare, reports the Express. During his show last year, he disclosed: "What do I cook on a regular day at home? Roast chicken. Easy. "An hour and a quarter in the oven with some nice veg - green beans from the garden, tomatoes from the greenhouse," he went on, confessing that he's not against having it in a sandwich. He added: "As a chef, it's a funny one; if you're cooking for people at home, yes, you go and do your thing and get into the 'process'. "But if it's just for everyday meals, most of us go for things like that - something simple but delicious; steak frites, or steak and a jacket potato, or a simple pasta, are my favourites." James also revealed one of his favourite ways to prepare pasta, stating: "Just a couple of tins of tomatoes, with garlic and basil, and cook for 30 minutes with some good olive oil. Cooking it for a good time makes the difference." On today's programme, James was joined by singer Louise as well as chefs Francesco Mazzei and Tom Shepherd, and forager Alysia Vasey. Other dishes on the menu included flatbread with blue cheese and nettle pesto and a mouth-watering asparagus tart with shallots, cheddar and a golden shortcrust. Another recipe that had viewers salivating was James' Lamb Chops, Purple Sprouting Broccoli and Harissa Dressing.
