A POLICE CORDON REMAINS AT THE SCENE 16:46, 29 May 2025 Searches continue after a teenage girl fell into a reservoir from a dam. Emergency services were called to Baitings Dam near
Ripponden, West Yorkshire, at 1.17pm on Wednesday, May 28. It followed reports a young girl fell into a reservoir from a dam, police said. All emergency services were called to the scene,
however the girl could not be found. West Yorkshire Police said underwater search teams were continuing with their attempts to locate her on Thursday. According to the Mail Online, a
relative said that the girl was visiting the reservoir with her dad when she fell. Yesterday, a police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 1.17pm this afternoon, police were called to a
report a girl had fallen into water at Baitings Dam near Ripponden. Initially police, fire and ambulance were deployed to the scene, but the teenage girl could not be located. "Searches
are continuing this evening by underwater search teams, to try and locate her." Emma Hardy MP, minister for water and flooding, told the BBC she was "praying for" good news.
She said: "I'm so desperately sorry to hear about what's happened to this young girl, and my heart goes out to her family and friends who must be feeling absolutely
devastated. "Of course, there's a live police search going on and I'm desperately hoping that we have the good news that we're all praying for." She added: "The
priority has to be finding that girl - and hoping she's safe and sound." Anyone with information who could assist is asked to call West Yorkshire Police on 101. Get all the big
