Bayer Leverkusen have issued a heartfelt statement on Jeremie Frimpong after he completed his £29.5million switch to Liverpool on Friday. The Netherlands international's move will be
made official on Sunday, when the summer transfer window opens. The Reds moved quickly to snap-up a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who sealed his £10million move to Real Madrid
earlier on Friday. The club had been in talks with Leverkusen and Frimpong's representatives for some time, while the right-back had even spoken with head coach Arne Slot on a few
occasions. "I spoke to the manager a few times," Frimpong told LFCTV. "He sounds very positive. He says I can bring a lot of energy and my qualities, my speed. Especially when
a manager is talking positively about you, that gives you very good confidence that he believes in you. I’ve had good conversations with him. "I'm really excited [to work with
Arne Slot]. Even when I was at [the] national team, some of the Feyenoord boys would tell me about him and be like; 'He's the best coach I've ever had'. Things like this.
So, I've always heard good things about the coach. Now he's going to be my coach, so I'm excited for that." Following Liverpool's announcement on social media, it
was Leverkusen's turn to respond. In an emotional message, the Bundesliga side wrote, via Instagram: "Dear Jerry... You arrived with a smile, and you never stopped sharing it. Your
joy, energy and heart lit up every room, training session and matchday. "We will miss your laugh, your dance moves and your hugs, but most of all, we will also miss the incredible
person behind the player. Thank you for every moment in black and red. "Now it's time for the next step. You'll always have a home here. With love and pride, your
admins." They then left a comment on Liverpool's post about Frimpong, which featured the caption: "Jeremie is a Red." Leverkusen replied: "Take care of this great
lad!" followed by a love heart emoji. That reply has over 7,000 likes. Upon leaving the German outfit, Frimpong said: "Leverkusen was a very special stage in what I hope will be a
long career as a professional. It's incredible what we've all achieved here together. "Winning the double was a moving and unforgettable event for me because very few people
thought we could do it in this way. I will always be a Leverkusen player. This club remains an important part of my personal history - and I thank Bayer 04 and the fans for a fantastic
time." Meanwhile, their sporting director Simon Rolfes added: "Jeremie is a perfect example of the path that Bayer 04 Leverkusen has often taken with great success; bringing a
young, highly talented player from a small league and developing him into a top performer. "This transfer is another way in which we can and will shape the Leverkusen squad of the
future. Jerry was a central player in our double [winning] team, he has become a crowd favourite with his special manner and thanks to his good performances. Now he wants to prove himself in
the Premier League at Liverpool FC, so we all wish him the best of luck." _JOIN OUR WHATSAPP COMMUNITY, SIGN UP TO A NEWSLETTER OR LISTEN TO OUR PODCASTS __HERE_
