JOSHUA KIMMICH HAS BROKEN HIS SILENCE AS GERMANY TEAMMATE FLORIAN WIRTZ LOOKS SET TO SNUB BAYERN MUNICH FOR LIVERPOOL 16:00, 02 Jun 2025 Joshua Kimmich has hinted at the Bayern Munich
dressing room disappointment as Liverpool push to beat them to Florian Wirtz's signature. The Reds are locked into talks with Bayer Leverkusen over the Germany star in a move which
would smash their club record. Arne Slot's side saw their £109million bid rejected by the Bundesliga side after they tabled the offer on Friday, however there is a determination to
reach an agreement over the 22-year-old. The ECHO reported on Monday that both clubs are hoping for a swift resolution to the deal, but no middle ground has been reached at the moment, with
negotiations ongoing. Liverpool emerged as contenders for Wirtz's signature last month before it became clear that the Premier League champions had stormed to the front of the queue to
sign him, beneath the noses of the Bundesliga giants and Manchester City. READ MORE: Florian Wirtz transfer verdict as Liverpool beat Bayern Munich to record talks - 'Would be very

turns to international duty with Germany as they take on Portugal in the Nations League playoff semi-final. Despite the prize at stake in the competition, there is a scramble for a
development in the midfielder's saga, and Bayern Munich's Kimmich fielded questions on the matter in the build-up to Tuesday's encounter. The 30-year-old was forced to admit
that he hoped Wirtz would join him in Bavaria. Article continues below "He will have his reasons for making this decision," he said. "I hope it's the right path for him.
"As a Bayern player, I would have naturally wanted him to come to us." The Bavarians had made their admiration and interest in Wirtz public throughout their league campaign as they
wrestled back the German top-flight title from the playmaker and Leverkusen. Liverpool nudged their way in front of Bayern Munich at the end of last month, sparking disappointment and anger
from figures in the region. Bayern President Herbert Hainer was forced to make a bitter admission that their English rivals had pushed ahead in the chase. "Max Eberl (Bayern director
of sport) informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool. "I can't say how things will transpire with Leverkusen." Prior to that, there was a confidence
that Bayern would snatch their closest rivals' star man. There were reports throughout the campaign which speculated that a verbal agreement had already been reached between the club
and Wirtz's representatives. Article continues below After they were crowned Bundesliga champions, Bayern chief Uli Hoeness said: "These are things that are so typical of the state
of our media, that they take such nonsense as a small trip so seriously. "What can I tell you now? You've been writing nonsense for weeks about him going to Manchester City, even
though he was at Liverpool. "We'll provide you with facts at some point, not more speculation."
