BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend is finally here as the first day of the music festival kicks off in Liverpool's Sefton Park. The festival is set to feature approximately 100 acts over

the bank holiday weekend. The festival, which takes place in a different UK location each year, boasts a star-studded lineup curated by the radio station. This year's big names include

Sam Fender, Mumford & Sons, Tate McRae, Sugababes, Haim, JADE, AJ Tracey, Myles Smith, Wet Leg, Blossoms, Lola Young and many more. An estimated 100,000 fans are anticipated to attend

the festival over the weekend. Today, festivalgoers attending Radio 1's Big Weekend will be able to enjoy performances from Tom Grennan, Biffy Clyro, James Hype, Natasha Bedingfield,

and The Wombats. In a special nod to the festival's takeover of the city, Merseyrail has made an exciting change to the network as Radio One broadcaster Gregg James will become the

network's voice as thousands board services across the train line. If you can't make it to the event, the BBC is offering "non-stop" coverage across the weekend. Live

coverage of the event will be available on BBC Radio 1, BBC Sounds, and BBC iPlayer. You can also find highlights on the BBC Radio 1 YouTube channel. Boards are in place around the park,

sectioning off the festival site, with a number of stages visible from the perimeter of the park, as well as a huge Ferris wheel. We will be bringing you live updates from the festival

throughout the weekend, including festival fashion, spot yourself galleries, highlights from the performances, and celebrity interviews.
