THE FAMOUS COASTAL TOWN BEAT THE LIKES OF BRIGHTON, NEWQUAY AND LLANDUDNO TO BAG THE NUMBER ONE SPOT LIV CLARKE Tourism writer and EMILIA BONA Content Editor 12:26, 30 May 2025 Blackpool has

been crowned the UK's top seaside staycation spot, according to recent research. The renowned coastal town, famed for its tower, ballroom and rollercoasters, outshone competitors such

as Brighton, Newquay and Llandudno to clinch the coveted title. The study, conducted by SuomiCasino, evaluated 26 UK seaside towns based on key entertainment aspects including the number of

amusement parks, live music venues, bars and restaurants, casinos, landmarks, beaches, and escape rooms. The North West coastal gem emerged victorious due to its plethora of entertainment

options. A haven for adrenaline junkies, Blackpool boasts an impressive tally of 12 water and amusement parks, including the legendary Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It also lays claim to 13

casinos - the highest count among all destinations surveyed in the study. Among its 67 landmarks are the iconic Blackpool Tower, the ballroom, and several piers brimming with seaside

merriment, reports the MEN. With 520 bars and restaurants, there's certainly no dearth of spots for a refreshing drink or a hearty meal. All in all, this beloved seaside destination,

cherished by generations of holidaymakers, is the ultimate choice for a fun-filled coastal getaway. Brighton secured the second spot on the list, impressing with its 900 bars and

restaurants, and 58 live music venues. Southport, yet another regional gem, secured third place, being lauded for "offering a blend of traditional charm and coastal elegance." With

its historic pier, splendid gardens, and Victorian architecture, visitors are assured a "relaxing yet engaging getaway." The Blackpool Tower was recently illuminated in the

colours of Liverpool FC as people from all over the country expressed their support for the city in the wake of a horror crash at the club's victory parade. After lighting up the famous

Blackpool Tower bright red as a sign of respect, a spokesman said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Liverpool. No matter what your colours we stand in solidarity with

everyone effected by this awful event." ‌Mollie James said: "Currently in Blackpool and must say the tower in red was incredible to witness. The support coming from people is mega

(myself included). YNWA." Elaine Walker said: "I'm a Manchester red but my thoughts and prayers are with Merseyside. Hopefully no one is badly hurt. Sending prayers."

Carol A Davies said: "I'm a Manchester red hoping everyone is OK, prayers." Ruth AC said: "Thinking of the Liverpool fans, what an awful end to a wonderful season you
