AN INCOMING JET STREAM WILL SEE TEMPERATURES RISE ACROSS THE UK 07:42, 29 May 2025 Umbrellas and raincoats have been back out in Greater Manchester over the last week as the region has faced

a return to the grey, chilly weather it is known for. Despite 2025 seeing the UK's sunniest spring on record, the rain clouds have moved back in and mild temperatures taken the place

of the blazing sunshine we saw a few weeks ago. But we could be in luck as the Met Office is predicting warmer and 'more humid' weather over the coming days - although some parts

of the country will see this more than others. _JOIN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS WHATSAPP GROUP HERE_ The highest temperatures will be recorded in the south and southeast of England this

week, the Met Office says, reaching highs of 24C on Thursday, 25C on Friday and 26C on Saturday, before dropping to 21C on Sunday. Some reports had said this was due to a 'Caribbean jet

stream' is driving this shift in weather, but the Met Office says this is not the case. Met Office Chief Meteorologist Matthew Lehnert said: "A 'Caribbean jet stream' is

not a meteorological term and is certainly not what is behind the warmer temperatures we expect to see this week. The jet stream is a ribbon of air high in the atmosphere that helps to

steer weather systems around the globe. "A subtle shift northwards in the jet stream later this week will result in pressure rising in the south and temperatures climbing into the mid

20s Celsius for some of us, but this is nothing to do with the Caribbean. The airmass that brings us the warmer weather on Friday into Saturday this week is being drawn from the

Azores." In Greater Manchester we can expect climbing temperatures and a spot of sunshine on Saturday, although the mercury will not reach the same heights as in the southeast of

England. You can read the weather forecast in full below. FRIDAY Friday will be mainly cloudy, although rain should clear eastwards to give a mixture of brighter spells and scattered showers

through the day. The Met Office says it will feel breezy at times, especially in the showers. Maximum temperature 18C. SATURDAY Our best shot at some sunshine will come on Saturday when we

can expect to see sunny intervals interspersed with cloudy conditions. Temperatures will also climb to a balmy 22C. SUNDAY According to the Met Office, Sunday will start with some light

showers but these will shift to sunny intervals by lunchtime. Temperatures will drop back down to highs of 17C. Article continues below _FOR THE LATEST STORIES AND BREAKING NEWS VISIT
