THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF CHANGE HAPPENING IN THE DALES THIS YEAR 19:48, 30 May 2025 Emmerdale fans have expressed their concern that a villager won't be sticking around for much
longer after they recently made their soap debut. So far in the ITV soap it's been a year of change, with various departures under their belt including the deaths of Anthony Fox, Leyla
Harding, Amy Wyatt and Suzy Merton. However, we've also been introduced to some new faces with newcomer Shez Miah taking on the role of bad boy Kammy Hadiq just a few months ago.
It's Netflix star Bradley Riches though who has found himself at the centre of a major soap storyline. Making his soap debut in the Dales as Lewis Barton, he's the long lost son of
Emma Barton, making him the half-brother of Ross Barton who returned to Emmerdale last year. As viewers may recall, Emma died after Moira pushed her off a viaduct, and with brother Finn
dead and Pete elsewhere, Ross has been riding solo ever since. Article continues below During recent episodes, Lewis kept asking questions about his biological mother who he had never met.
Ross and Moira attempted to avoid the truth due to what happened, however, Lewis then labelled Moira as a murderer. While his character started to develop a brotherly bond with Ross,
there's now concerns amongst some viewers as to the future of Lewis as Ross is trying to use him to get money out of his cannabis farm. Taking to Reddit, u/holdontothatthought wrote:
"What do you think they're going to do next with the character? Seems like the brotherly bonding is over and done with (or on a very permanent pause) and Moira's killing of
Emma is in a stalemate with Ross blackmailing Lewis about his marijuana enterprise to keep him quiet. "It's difficult to imagine Lewis being alright with it all, since though
he's morally grey enough to grow his own marijuana, he certainly isn't at a level required to be a Barton on Emmerdale. I'm kind of stumped with what they'll do with the
character next and a little disappointed the lighter content ran out so fast." Another viewer, u/Columbos_raincoat replied: "Ross has got him over a barrel with the cannabis. So
they'll probably talk him down and try to get him to understand what Emma was actually like. Failing that - he leaves. Which would be totally pointless." Article continues below A
third fan, u/Significant_Rule2400 suggested: "I think he'll calm down. Right now he's just worried he'll be like her and trying to find someone else to blame. The more
he's in the village and talks to people the more he'll find out that there was no saving Emma at the end." EMMERDALE AIRS ON WEEKDAYS AT 7:30PM ON ITV1 AND IS AVAILABLE TO
STREAM ON ITVX.
