A LOOK AT THE LATEST MANCHESTER UNITED HEADLINES ON FRIDAY, MAY 23 SEAN MCCORMICK Football Content Editor 16:49, 23 May 2025Updated 16:49, 23 May 2025 Manchester United will bring their
disappointing 2024/25 season to a close on Sunday afternoon when they take on Aston Villa at Old Trafford. But while their opponents will be looking to qualify for next season's
Champions League, United will be looking to avoid the indignity of finishing 17th in the Premier League. Wednesday night's disappointing 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League
final not only saw their last chance of winning silverware this season disappear but also saw their last chance of qualifying for next season's Champions league vanish too. United are
now looking ahead to next season and how they can strengthen the team. But with redundancies being announced and United's dire on-field performances this term, all is not well at the
club at the minute. Here is a look at the latest Manchester United headlines on Friday, May 23. £30M TRANSFER GREEN LIGHT Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has revealed the club has given
Manchester United transfer target Liam Delap permission to hold talks with interested parties ahead of this summer's transfer window. United have identified Delap, 22, as a primary
target to strengthen their attacking options ahead of this summer's transfer window. Delap, who joined Ipswich from Manchester City last summer, has excelled in his first full season as
a Premier League player, scoring 12 goals for the relegated Tractor Boys. As a result of suffering an immediate return to the Championship, the £30million release clause in Delap's
contract will become active this summer. Ipswich will conclude their first Premier League campaign in more than 20 years against West Ham United on Sunday. "He's looking at his
options for next year," McKenna told the media on Friday lunchtime. "We support him with that. "There's a lot of interest and rightly so. It's looking more likely he
goes rather than stays." _READ THE FULL STORY, HERE._ REDUNDANCY DECISION Manchester United officials have told some staff working at the club's Carrington training ground that
they are being made redundant, with the news delivered less than 48 hours after defeat in the Europa League final. Staff in football-facing roles including scouting and medical departments
were told on Friday that they would be losing their jobs, with the outcome in jobs connected to first-team affairs deferred until the end of the season. United sources say the majority of
the 200 staff members expected to lose their jobs in the latest round of cuts had already been informed of their at-risk status. But some football staff were only told of their fate on
Friday, with a desire to avoid disruption during the run to the Europa League final and the build-up to Wednesday's final against Tottenham in Bilbao. _READ THE FULL STORY, HERE._ FIVE
POINT PLAN TO MAKE UNITED A FORCE AGAIN This is rock bottom for Manchester United but there is no reason why 2025-26 cannot be a progressive season for the club. 2019 was the year of the
'cultural reset' at United. Reset, revamp or reboot, none of those words do United's current position justice. Without relegation (never a tangible threat), they are at rock
bottom. They have to frame next season positively. Free midweeks for Ruben Amorim to coach the players to within an inch of their lives, ample rest between matches and the motivation to
ensure United do not end up anywhere near to where they are now. Article continues below _HERE IS A FIVE-POINT PLAN TO MAKE UNITED A FORCE AGAIN._
