UPDATE ON OLD TRAFFORD PLANS Manchester United have entered into a partnership with Trafford Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority amid the plans to rejuvenate the Trafford
Wharfside area. Earlier this year, a new task force including key civic and sporting figures was set-up with the vision of regenerating the surrounding community within plans for a new and
enhanced Old Trafford. World Athletics chief Lord Sebsatian Coe, who led the staging of the 2012 London Olympics, Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and former United captain Gary Neville are
some of the names involved with the task force. “Greater Manchester has a strong claim to be the biggest footballing city-region on the planet," Burnham said. "The future of Old
Trafford is the next chapter of that story, and we have a chance now to make sure it’s written properly." Lord Coe added: "The objective of this once-in-a-generation project is not
only the development of a world-class stadium for the north of England, but also to ensure that this brings broad social and economic benefits to the local area and surrounding
region."
