THE NORTHERN BELLE WILL OPERATE INDULGENT SERVICES TO BATH AND CARLISLE FOR THE DAY 10:46, 04 Jun 2025 One of the world’s ‘most luxurious trains’ where passengers can sip on champagne and
tuck into a six-course meal is arriving in Manchester later this month. Once described as “like Downton Abbey on wheels”, the Northern Belle transports passengers back to the indulgent age
of 1930s rail travel with beautifully detailed carriages and a five-star service. Actor Bill Nighy described the Northern Belle as “the Grand Dame of luxury travel” when it featured on
Channel 5 last year. The train, once part of the historic Orient Express operation, will depart from Manchester on Saturday, June 14, for a steam-hauled journey over the picturesque
Settle-Carlisle line and again on Friday, June 27, for a trip to Bath, with the chance to visit the famous Roman baths. Both services will leave Manchester in the morning and those on board
will receive a sparkling Mimosa cocktail upon boarding, which will be followed by a "sumptuous three-course brunch”. Article continues below After enjoying time in either Bath or
Carlisle depending on the service, passengers will return to the train with a champagne reception and a six-course dinner accompanied by the Sommelier’s choice of wine. Every course boasts
“the finest seasonal ingredients from the British Isles”, prepared in the refurbished kitchen carriage. Tea and coffee will be served before arriving back in Manchester in the evening.
Tickets are still available for these services, starting from £495 per passenger on the Bath service on June 27, departing from Manchester Victoria, and £595 on the Settle & Carlisle
Steam Special service on June 14, departing from Manchester Piccadilly Station . For an additional £95 you can upgrade to the Laurent-Perrier Class with upgraded drinks, or splash out on one
of the limited seats in the KRUG class, which costs an additional £195. Later in July there will be a service to Edinburgh, which includes a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia. Tickets for
the Northern Belle service for Ladies Day at Royal Ascot on June 19 have already sold out, including the KRUG class which costs nearly £1,000. A spokesperson for the train said: “We won’t
just be taking people to Ascot, we will be transporting them back in time to an era when nothing was too good for the pampered passenger.” “We could have sold it our twice over,” said the
spokesperson. “It really is a wonderful occasion, especially with everybody dressing up for the day. I think we will probably pour more champagne on this train than on any other of our trips
during the year.” Article continues below FOR MORE OF THE LATEST WHAT'S ON NEWS, CLICK HERE.
