Stocks were falling midday Friday as investors weighed President Donald Trump’s social-media post accusing China of violating its trade agreement with the U.S., but major benchmarks remained on track for weekly gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down about 63 points on Friday, or 0.2%, at around 42,153. The S&P 500 was falling 21 points, or 0.4%, to about 5,891. The Nasdaq Composite was declining 109 points, or 0.6%, to around 19,067. For the week, the Dow was on pace to climb 1.3%, the S&P 500 was on track to rise 1.5% and the technology-heavy Nasdaq was on course to climb 1.8%, according to FactSet data midday Friday.
