Patriarchy is a term used by Americans (and Western Europeans) to judge indigenous cultures. There is no indigenous culture that developed the concept of Patriarchy. So, you are claiming that some indigenous cultures are "patriarchies" and some are "not patriarchies". How do you make that judgment? Do you think if you went to a woman in the Sioux culture 800 years ago (before White people cam) that they would believe that they were "oppressed"? Or do you believe that Sioux women would be proud of their culture and stand by their traditional beliefs? If you as an American judge an indigenous woman to be oppressed by her culture, and she believes her culture is beneficial to her... who is right? Would you argue with an indigenous woman about whether she is oppressed by her own culture? These are subjective judgments.
