My first Twitter chat went well. 6:50pm rolled around, 10 minutes before the chat was scheduled to begin, and I started seeing the hashtag #SundaySupper being used more frequently. The
participants seemed to know one another and gave a warm welcome to me. This week’s topic was Tacos in honor of #NationalTacoDay this coming Wednesday. We started with the basics: do you save
your tacos for Tuesdays? The group consensus deemed it would be ridiculous to limit ourselves to tacos just 1 day a week — I was glad we were all on the same page here.
Here is the list of questions we covered:
Do you save your taco dinners for #TacoTuesday? What sides do you serve with tacos?Hard shell or soft shell? What is your favorite taco recipe of all time? How creative do you like to get with
your tacos? Tell us about the most creative taco you’ve eaten! What is your favorite meat to put in tacos?Do you prefer corn or flour tortillas? Why?What taco toppings do you like best?Have
you ever made your own tortillas for tacos?Do you use store-bought taco seasoning or make your own from scratch? We then ventured into a more in-depth conversation of homemade taco
seasoning. To be frank, this part of #SupperSunday was way over my head. I had always used store bought and never knew there was any other way. This really opened up my eyes and exposed me
to a few new recipes I’l have to try on Wednesday.
I have to admit, I was surprisingly proud of myself when I won over a lead member of the group with my #TacoTip. The question was “Q3 Hard shell or soft shell?” I responded with “A3 BOTH!
Spread some guac on the soft shell and use it to stick to the outside of the hard shell! Best of both worlds. #sundaysupper.” The crowd went wild! They loved it! I felt accomplished and
productive.
I had mentioned @bartacolife in one of my tweets about pork belly tacos and another person knew of @bartacolife and backed me up! She said that @bartaco life really did have one of the best
pork belly tacos she has ever had. It was good to get some support at that time — it was getting pretty heated in there. It also sparked another topic of most unique tacos. We ended up
agreeing on a fried avocado taco being the most unique.
Overall, my first Twitter chat was definitely a positive experience. #SundaySupper is doing a slow cooker chat next week and I may jump in on that conversation as well!
