#Notmyvicepresident A lot of times we have seen people in India feeling proud of NRI s making it big in their countries of residence. The person can be praised for their hard work and
perseverance. But claiming pride as an Indian for an NRI making it big in the US, New Zealand and google is something I wouldnt be proud of. The person and their family left the country for
better opportunities. Which to me implies that the person in discussion at some point of time had not trusted his or her homeland to have provided the kind of success he or she has recieved
there. Now , surely this cannot be generalised. However, when the attention and status of " foreign return" exists, the brain drain and myth of a low ambition society will persist.
This truly breeds the mediocrity, because the best minds in the world have endorsed in some or other way, that their lives have transformed once theyve gone there and make no effort to come
back and give back to the country they are proud of. How many great scientists, doctors, economists in the last twenty years have retired in India? They take short paid leaves to work on
Indian projects , but ultimately go back to the comforts of a first world country . No harm and no hard feelings for them . The complaint right now, is Indian students, parents and media
feeling proud of someone who is technically a foreigner in India. Since the british imperialist times, we havent lost our high regard for anything thats not from our country. The next
generation, and even ours must align their personal career goals to the national dream and the welfare of the community that aided their success. Our education policy must do this. But the
New Education Policy sanctioned under a right leaning nationalist governent doesnot seem interested much to the surprise of patriots like me. I respect Kamala’s accomplishment, but there is
nothing to be proud of, because , India has not seen a minority Prime minister as yet.
