Japan has been rocked by a 6.1 magnitude earthquake. The tremor occurred off the cost of Kushiro, at a moderately shallow depth of 44km. The city of Kushiro, on Japan's northern island,


was hit by tremors at around 5.30pm local time (9.30 GMT), on Saturday. The epicentre was recorded just off the coast of northeastern Japan. Taking to X, one local said the shaking went on

AMID AFTERSHOCKS One local took to X to share their fears following the strong tremors that shook the Kushiro region. This resident described the initial shakes and subsequent aftershocks.


They wrote: "The shaking of the earthquake just now felt stronger than its seismic intensity, and most importantly, lasted longer. There are aftershocks and I feel kind of uneasy.
