AFC WIMBLEDON FACE WALSALL ON MONDAY FOR A SPOT IN LEAGUE ONE AS THE DONS LOOK TO ACHIEVE PROMOTION AT WEMBLEY FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2016 JOSHUA PECK Assistant Sports Editor 00:00, 26 May

2025 AFC Wimbledon captain Jake Reeves is aware of just what victory at Wembley today will mean to the club. Reeves was part of the Wombles team who beat Plymouth under the arch in 2016 to

be promoted to League One. Now, nine years later, he will lead the Dons out as they look to reach the third tier again. “Walking out at Wembley will be huge," Reeves said. "I was

here the last time the club got to a play-off final at Wembley [in 2016], and Barry Fuller was the captain then. "All the history and how much Baz gets spoken about here, as well as the

photos that you see around the ground of him lifting the trophy, I know that if we end up getting the result we want, those photos will live on forever in this club’s history.” READ MORE:

Johnnie Jackson guided Wimbledon into the play-offs where they beat Notts County 2-0 on aggregate to reach Wembley. Midfielder Reeves is in his third spell at the club and is looking for his

fourth promotion having also risen through the leagues with Stevenage and Brentford earlier in his career. “I’ve been lucky enough to be promoted on three other occasions, and I think this

one would probably rank above all three purely because of my affiliation with the club," Reeves added, speaking exclusively to Sky Bet. Article continues below "They weren’t in

great shape when most of us boys signed, and to be able to take the club back into League One would be special.” Wimbledon have not conceded in their last three matches, winning each one

1-0. They will take over 28,000 fans to Wembley and midfielder James Tilley expects the Dons supporters to bring the noise. “The AFC Wimbledon fans have been amazing all season, and we need

them to do it for one final game, to be out in full force at Wembley, making plenty of noise and being our 12th man," Tilley said. "The fans always push us on, and we hope we can

get the win for them. “Momentum is a massive thing in football, and we’ve got plenty of that. We managed to get that win against Grimsby, in the last game of the season, which gave us that

confidence to go into the first leg against Notts County. "We beat them away, which gave us more momentum to beat them again at home, so we’re in good shape going into the final.”
