ABSTRACT WORKERS1–5 have reported IgG-precipitating antibodies against predominantly high molecular weight ruminant immunoglobulins to be present in the sera of certain patients with IgA
deficiencies. The most frequently identified antigen is bovine IgM but we have also found a high frequency of precipitating antibodies to bovine associated mucoprotein (BAMP) (Table 1).
Immunochemical studies have demonstrated that the antibodies to these two proteins are entirely distinct and that antibodies to BAMP in human sera can only precipitate with a fraction of the
