Sir, we have noted Dr Williams' complimentary review of _Orthodontic radiographs: guidelines_, 3rd edition (_BDJ_ 2009; 206: 182). However, Dr Williams is incorrect in his or her
assumption that the guidelines will be 'only of interest to orthodontists'. Every practitioner has a legal responsibility to ensure that only clinically justified radiographs are
