Two Dalit youths attempted suicide by dousing themselves with kerosene in front of the camp office of Telangana’s Manakondur constituency legislator Rasamayi Balakishan on Sunday evening.


27-year-old Mahankali Srinivas and 26-year-old Yalala Parushramulu, both from Siddipet district’s Gudem village sustained more than 40per cent burn injuries, _The Hindu_ reported. The


victims, who had allegedly been pleading with the legislator to allocate the three acres of land promised by the State Government during the elections, were shifted to the government


headquarters hospital in the town after the incident. The youths were visited by Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Etala Rajender, Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar, legislator Gangula


Kamalar, Mayor S Ravinder Singh, Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma and others who promised to look into the matter. consoled the victims. They also instructed the hospital authorities to


provide good treatment, and if required, shift them to Hyderabad for better treatment, reports state.
