A hospital matron will be swapping Ipswich for Tanzania when she flies out to Africa this month for volunteer work with children. For three months, Judith Shanks will be working with

children in orphanages and schools. She will live at a base with other volunteers where there is security and clean water but little electricity. The diagnostic imaging department matron

hopes she can make a difference, however small, to the lives of children in Tanzania. ‘I’m aware I have so much materially, and family and friends around me, and I’d like to be able to help
