Start spreadin’ the news — the New York Post is officially expanding its coverage to Long Island! At a time when journalism couldn’t be more important, America’s oldest daily newspaper will
soon dedicate reporters to covering in-depth local news, sports and politics in a way no other outlet can. In fact, on Monday, The Post was designated Nassau County’s official newspaper by
County Executive Bruce Blakeman. “I am very proud to get the support of the Legislature on this historic initiative to have the New York Post as our official paper,” Blakeman said at a
Monday press conference. “And many people would say, ‘Well, Bruce, why? Why are you guys doing this when Newsday has been the official paper for as far back as we can remember?’ Well, first
of all, I think the New York Post, their coverage is much more vast, and I think that we try to take a regional approach and a lot of the issues that we have, and certainly the New York Post
is well read by many people throughout the metropolitan area and nationally and internationally as well.” EXPLORE MORE Blakeman appeared alongside New York Post Group Editor in Chief Keith
Poole for the historic announcement. “We’d like to thank Bruce Blakeman, his team and Nassau County for their support and belief in the New York Post and for making it the official paper
here,” said Poole. “The Post has long covered the major stories on Long Island, but this gives us the opportunity to go much deeper on local news, sports and politics, and grow our
relationship with our readers here.” Daily coverage is set to begin in the new year, when a team of reporters will focus on all the goings-on in Nassau for The Post’s print and digital
products. “Again, thank you very much,” said Poole. “And go, Islanders!” _Additional reporting by Reuven Fenton_
