WAYNE, NJ — After a Wayne teenager was injured after being shot under the eye with a paintball gun, police are seeking public assistance in what they're calling an aggravated assault case.
On Nov. 8, four juvenile males were walking on the sidewalk in the area of the Willowbrook Mall food court when a passenger in a passing silver or gray sedan fired multiple close range shots
from a paintball gun at the group, police said.
One of those shots hit a 15-year-old male under his eye, which caused "significant injury," police said. He was treated at an area hospital.
Police said the sedan sped off after shooting at the group, but video surveillance captured the vehicle in the area of the food court prior to the incident.
Later, the suspects, two males and a female, were seen on video entering Forever 21 and the Adidas store in the mall.
Police are asking the public to share any information they receive with the Detective Bureau at 973-633-3530.
