YONKERS, NY — UPDATE: At 7:48 p.m. Saturday, Yonkers Police issued the following statement, "The crisis negotiation event has ended. Members of the Emergency Service Unit (ESU) made

entry into the home and discovered the subject deceased." Yonkers Police are in a standoff with an armed suspect who has barricaded himself in a Livingston Avenue home. Authorities

describe the man as “emotionally disturbed.” The situation developed after police arrived at the scene as part of a welfare check. Instead, according to officials, the subject threatened

officers and opened fire on police. The police did not return fire, but cordoned off the area and trained negotiators have since been attempting to resolve the situation peacefully. No

injuries have been reported. Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area. Streets have been closed in a zone stretching across parts of South Broadway, Ludlow Street, Morris Street,

Hamilton Avenue and Stanley Place. Nearby residents have been warned to stay indoors and away from doors and windows until an "all clear" is issued by police.
