Some things will never change. No matter how distant Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell’s friendship seems to have drifted, the pair still remains closer than ever and has joined forces, once
again, for Fandango – and Mitchell says, “it’s awesome.” “[Working together] is like a comfy pair of shoes because we did it not too long ago,” Thompson tells PEOPLE exclusively about
working with his _All That_ costar for the first time in eight months on the set of his latest project with Fandango for their spring/summer brand campaign starting in May, where he plays
movie super fan Miles Mouvay, to promote its new products and services. In September, the pair reunited in front of the camera on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for a “Good Burger”
skit, and Thompson says, “It feels like we picked up from a two-day break as opposed to like eight months.” “There is time that has passed, but I don’t know if there is anything different
with the way that we work with each other and the way that he makes me laugh,” says Thompson. “It’s always just been the same.” He adds, “There was time when I hadn’t seen him in a long
time, but as soon as I did see him it was like it could have been yesterday.” And although there may be nothing different about the way that the two work together, they both agree their
friendship now versus when they worked together as kids has become “a lot more mature.” “We both have families now and we just have a different head on our shoulders with a more
responsibility focus as opposed to like ‘what fun can we have when we got off work today,'” says Thompson. He continues, “It’s probably more work focused so that we can make sure to
maintain working and stuff like that, but it just seems sharper all around, and seasoned because we both have been doing it for so long that we don t have to be talked to a million times
about one thing, we can kind of get it the first time you tell us or we’ll just do it and people like it.” For years, rumors swirled when the pair had not been linked together in quite some
time, leaving many speculating a feud. But while Thompson and Mitchell kept their friendship alive via social media, their lives just had different plans for them during that time. “It
wasn’t so much a feud, but when you see two people doing so much work together and then you don t see that people just assume that there’s beef or whatever, but we just had different lives
and different paths at the moment and now our paths can come back together, which is exciting for me,” says Thompson.
