The next stop on Bachelorette Emily Maynard’s international husband/stepfather-finding mission is Merry Olde England, and, according to suitor Sean Lowe, a few good men establish deeper
connections across the Pond. But the jolly good times come to an end when Maynard discovers one of them referred to her daughter Ricki as “baggage.” Luckily for Lowe, his first solo date of
the season came before the incident. On Monday’s episode, the pair will see London’s most popular sights from the top a double-decker, share a kiss at Buckingham Palace and be sentenced to
dinner at the Tower Of London. “It was the first opportunity I had to spend the entire day with her and I’m not ashamed to say it was one of the best days of my life,” the Dallas insurance
agent, 28, told reporters on a conference call. “That was the day I knew I had really strong feelings for her and the first time I pictured myself being with her in the future.” Lowe
believes they get along so well because of common values. “My priorities are faith and family, and I believe those are top two for Emily, as well. Ultimately, I want to live a simple life
surrounded by loved ones, raising a family and loving my wife forever. I let her know [that] from the very beginning, and she could tell when I said those words I was being genuine.” Lowe
missed most of the fireworks surrounding the “baggage” comment, because it occurred on the group date, but says the culprit “revealed himself as [someone] who was not there for the right
reasons.” ‘MY HAT’S OFF TO HIM’ It was no surprise, Lowe says, that single dad Doug came forward to tell Maynard about the comment. “He knows what it’s like to raise and protect a child and
felt it was his place to step in and try to protect Emily,” Lowe said. “My hat’s off to him.” Lowe says the severity of the comment justified the tattling. “There’s a lot of chatter among
guys – call it locker-room talk – that you have to take with a grain of salt or they’re joking in the moment, but if I overheard a guy say something as strong as ‘Ricki’s baggage,’ … I would
step in and say something.” Maynard’s strong reaction, which appears to include threatening physical harm to the perpetrator before dismissing him in a bleep-heavy way, had “everyone fired
up” when they returned to the hotel, Lowe said. “The guys came home and would not stop talking about it. Everyone was really impressed with the way she handled it and liked seeing that side
of her,” he continued. “You can only be cheery and happy for so long. Emily certainly showed her other side that night.”
