Profile Articles Activity Dr Samuel Alexander is Academic Director of Sustainability and Environmental Action with the School for International Training. From 2011-2020 he was a lecturer
with the Office for Environmental Programs, University of Melbourne, teaching a course called ‘Consumerism and the Growth Economy: Interdisciplinary Perspectives’ in the Master of
Environment. He was also a research fellow with the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute. He has published 20 books, including 'S M P L C T Y: Ecological Civilisation and the Will to
Art', 'Degrowth in the Suburbs: A Radical Urban Imaginary' (co-authored with Brendan Gleeson) and 'Carbon Civilisation and the Energy Descent Future' (co-authored
with Josh Floyd). He has published three books of collected essays, 'Prosperous Descent: Crisis as Opportunity in an Age of Limits' (Vol I); 'Sufficiency Economy: Enough, for
Everyone, Forever' (Vol II); and 'Wild Democracy: Degrowth, Permaculture, and the Simpler Way' (Vol III). His other books include 'Art Against Empire: Toward an
