Jammu, June 1 (IANS) Lt Gen Ranbir Singh on Friday took over as the chief of the Indian Army's Northern Command, a Defence Ministry statement said. After assuming charge, he conveyed
his greetings to all ranks and expressed his commitment to take forward the excellent work by his predecessors in these challenging conditions, it said, Lt Gen, who was the Deputy Chief of
Army Staff, Information Services and Training, was commissioned into the 9th Battalion of the Dogra Regiment in 1980 and has had esperience of various staff and command posts, having
commanded a mountain brigade, an armoured division and a Strike corps. His tenures also include United Nations Peacekeeping assignment in Rwanda and and Sudan. Besides other staff and
instructional appointments, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh has had multiple tenures in Military Operations Directorate in various ranks including heading it as Director General Military Operations.
