Three-year-old Sanjana, who survived a building collapse that killed her parents in Bengaluru’s Ejipura on Monday, 16 October, died a few days later on Diwali due to multiple organ failure.
On Monday, 16 October, when the search operations began for those trapped in the debris of a collapsed building in Bengaluru's Ejipura, there was little hope of finding Sanjana and her
family alive. The family living on the ground floor of the building, was crushed under the debris of the building that came crashing down. However, around 10.30 am, three rescue workers
digging through the debris, could see a hand with burn marks covered in dust. It was nothing short of a miracle for rescue workers to pull Sanjana out of the debris, without any serious
injuries. Varadarajan, Deputy Director of Fire and Emergency Services Department, who took the girl to the ambulance, said she was clinging on to him in fear. GOVT ADOPTED SANJANA Rescue
workers recovered the body of her mother, Ashwini, 28, who was seven months pregnant. The body of Sanjana’s father, Sharavana, 31, was recovered from under the rubble as well. Kalavathi, the
aunt of Ashwini, said that she had spoken to her on Sunday, 15 October, and Ashwini was planning to visit her parents this week. “They had come back from temple yesterday (Sunday), when we
met them. Even Sanjana was there and she was playing with us. To see the policeman carrying little girl was very difficult to see,” she said. > Karnataka government had announced that
